February round-up!

What I’ve been doing:

My friend Becky came to visit me and we had some touristy fun!

I went skiing with my boyfriend and some friends from Barcelona! Day 1 was lots of fun, day 2 was painful so after a few runs I opted for the wine and sunbathing option instead.

What I’ve been wearing:

Here are some OOTDs (outfit of the days) oh yes I am a blogger and this has been a long time coming! These are just a few basic outfits that I wore to uni or to go shopping.

1. Denim shirt, Zara black skinny jeans, Zara leopard loafers, H&M trench, Marks&Spencer cable knit scarf, Longchamp tote, Armani chunky watch, Rayban new wayfarers in tortoiseshell
2. Zara check shirt, Topshop leather look leggings, Nike high top blazers, Armani chunky watch
3. Mango oversized jumper, Zara paisley skinny jeans, Topshop boots
4. Mango suede jacket, H&M wool jumper with chiffon front, H&M floaty skirt, Zara loafers, Longchamp tote, Chelsea Doll spiked necklace

I’ve been loving my new TooFaced Perfect Lips lip liner! Here I’ve used the colour ‘perfect red’ with Calvin Klein Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick in ‘Ruby Red’ with a touch of Jemma Kidd lipstick duo in ‘Cleaopatra’ which is a dark burgundy colour, to tone it down a little as it suits my complexion better. I applied the lipsticks with Sephora Professional lip brush. I love this product so much! It does not budge at all!
My other makeup in this photo is Calvin Klein Summer Affair bronzer, Benefit High Beam, Maybelline The Falsies mascara and Mac eyeshadows in Naked Lunch and Embark in the crease.

What I’ve been buying:

I went onto my favourite beauty website feelunique.com to restock my amazing Elemis Balancing Lavender Toner. It’s usually £21 (200ml) on there which is cheaper than the RRP and although you could get cheaper versions on eBay/amazon etc, there’s free delivery and it’s reliable. Luckily for me, when I went looking for it I discovered that they had put the matching cleanser (Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom cleanser) in a duo set at the same price, buy one get one free! Yay! If you’re looking for a new skincare product I would recommend this. It may seem a bit expensive, but for 400ml of really amazing product which lasts ages, that do make a huge difference to your skin, I think its totally worth it. The one I chose is ‘Balance and Purify’ for oily/combination skin that is prone to break outs, but there are ‘Brightening and Resurfacing’ and ‘Revitalise and Replenish’ sets too.
Whilst on the same website I stumbled across the Moroccan Oil Shampoos and Conditioners, and as my regular Tresemme one is about to run out, I thought I would give a high end one a go. I’ve always had problems with my hair, it’s thin and limp and dry and takes a lot for me to be happy with it. After a good blow dry and tons of Moroccan Oil through the ends I can usually get it to look the way I want but I think I will be a lot happier with the results of the new shampoo. I’ve used the mini travel sized ones before and loved them, but as soon as I switched back to my normal shampoo my hair went the same, so fingers crossed! I went for the extra volume version and was not cheap so I hope it works!

I recently came across a website called sheinside.com, a lot of the stuff is very hit and miss and there are some awful designer rip offs but some things are really cute and the pricing is quite reasonable not to mention free delivery worldwide which is always a huge benefit. I ordered this necklace for summer as I adore the colour and think it will look lovely just styled simply with neutrals!

What I’ve been watching:

The Carrie Diaries! It’s meant to be Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City as a teenage girl in the 80s. The music, the story lines and the clothes are all really cute and its the perfect feel-good thing to watch to chill out and not think about anything!

Another series of Smash has started, its about a production company and cast of a musical trying to make broadway. Some people have called it a grown-up glee, but if you like singing/dancing/musicals you will love this.

What I’ve been baking:

White Chocolate and Cranberry cupcakes 🙂 This was a plain vanilla cupcake recipe with dried cranberry and and chunks of white chocolate.

Baileys Cheesecake, I followed this Nigella recipe (http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/baileys-cheesecake-613) but used chocolate digestives for the base

Homemade Hummus! This is a trial and error recipe of my own making!
-Blitz a clove of garlic, a 1/4 of a red onion, 1 tbsp of sesame seeds (or tahini paste if you can find it!) with a drop of water
-Add 1 tbsp of paprika, 1/2 tbsp of cumin, the juice of a lime and a really good glug of olive oil
-Add a can of cooked chickpeas and blitz up until smooth, then add salt and oil until you are happy! Add any extra ingredients you want to make it a bit more jazzy.. I’m going to try roasted red pepper, pine nuts and coriander versions
Ill never buy my own again, it’s far healthier and cheaper than any you can buy and so quick and easy!

We stocked up on some yummy tax free goats cheese in Andorra so this is what I did with it! Roast a red pepper in the oven until it is soft and sweet and caramelise about half a red onion (fry very slowly and add brown sugar and balsamic vinegar for the last 3 minutes). Get a sheet of pre-rolled pastry and cut in half into two rectangles and stab a few times with a fork, bake them like this for 10 minutes so that they are slightly cooked but not brown, this will avoid a soggy bottom (hehe). After they’re done, drizzle balsamic glaze over the middle, then add the onion and pepper into the centre and top with slices of goats cheese. Fold up your pastry and bake the whole thing until it’s golden!

What I’m looking forward to…

In the past couple of weeks my sister has been on a mission and got us tickets to see Beyonce in April and Rihanna in July! Can’t wait!

Next week I’m going to Granada and Seville to see my friends from Uni. We’re meeting in Granada for a few days and then all travelling together across to Seville for a few more days. It should be lots of fun and I’m really excited to see them all again!

    1. Hey Flick! The best thing I can do for volume and shine is when I blow dry it. I clip up sections and do it bit by bit with a big barrel brush, I use the round shape to almost make a round dent right at the roots of my hair in the underneath layers so it looks fuller and then you also get the shine from brushing it out. I use a volume spray from tresemme and also an argan oil serum from tresemme on the ends which is really nice because it soaks into the hair and doesnt clog it up or weigh it down too much..
