5 holiday beauty essentials

As I’m still on holiday and my beauty packing weighed more than my boyfriends entire suitcase alone, I thought I’d share my top 5 essentials for hot weather packing.

1. Vichy Idéal Soleil Mattifying face fluid SPF 30.

Since I’ve starting investing in skincare, it has made perfect sense to use a different face and body SPF. Most importantly for me, the body one will either completely dry out my skin, or break me out. I already use a Vichy night cream so I guessed that this wouldn’t make my skin react in any way. It has broad spectrum UV filters (most importantly) and is very light in texture, drying very quickly once rubbed in. I didn’t expect the ‘mattifying’ aspect to be as good as it was – lying by the pool my face remained matte and dry, despite the rest of me being a sweaty mess.

2. Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase

This came as part of a set, I didn’t plan to buy it, but I’ve used it a lot more than I thought! It’s been a lifesaver on holiday – putting back essential moisture that I lost from the pool, tanning and salty sea water. It also helped my recover quickly from any red bits (under my eyes get most sensitive) as it is extremely cooling and full of good stuff to repair skin. This is a serum that I apply before moisturiser.

3. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or

This is a beautiful dry oil that I apply to legs and arms in the evening to give a gorgeous gloss and shimmer. It makes your legs look amazing! It smells lovely and has small particles of gold shimmer in (although you can buy it without), perfect for summer nights. Be careful not to apply anything oil based to burned areas though – as this can make it worse!

4. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish cream cleanser

This is a firm favourite of mine and thank god for mini sizes! This is a great cleanser anyway – but ideal for holiday time when you need something gentle for irritated skin, but also heavy duty enough to remove traces of sunscreen and evening makeup.

5. Moroccan Oil

Again, in a perfect mini size, this has been great for post pool tangles! Each night I’ve been slathering this on the ends of my hair after washing and towel drying in order to avoid any damage from chlorine, sea salt and general damage from putting it up in messy buns all day. Again I love the smell and I’ve been using this product for years.

Hope you like these recommendations! Let me know what you love using on holiday…
